Yoga in Nyon: evening Kundalini classes in the old town
← Back to blog

For years I was the person hurrying past courtyards like this one. A demanding job in finance, three children, a calendar with no white space. I was convinced my life was balanced. It wasn't.

If you are searching for yoga in Nyon, there is a good chance some part of that sounds familiar. Maybe you sleep badly. Maybe you sit in meetings thinking about your phone. Maybe there is just a quiet feeling that something is off, without any words for it.

This post is a simple introduction to the evening Kundalini yoga classes I teach at Evolution Club, a small studio in Nyon's old town. What the classes look like, who they are for, and everything practical you need to know before you come.

A small studio in the heart of Nyon

Evolution Club sits at Rue de l'Industrie 1, tucked away in an intimate courtyard in the old town, a short walk from Nyon station.

It is a small space on purpose. Classes are capped at twelve people, and most evenings we are around ten. Natural light, soft colours, simple materials. The mats are wool and cork, and there are cushions, bolsters, and blankets for the relaxation at the end.

I wanted a room that does some of the work before the class even starts. You walk in from the street, the noise drops, and something in you already begins to settle.

What a class actually looks like

Every class follows the same arc, and every class is slightly different. Here is what an evening looks like.

We open

We begin with a mantra. If chanting sounds strange to you, I understand. People arrive thinking they need a good voice for this. You don't. Chanting is a breathing technique that anchors the mind. While your mind is occupied with the words, it cannot run through tomorrow's to-do list. My only ask is that you stay open and curious, and judge it the day after, by how you feel rather than how it looks.

We breathe

Then we breathe. Not as a warm-up before the real work. The breath is the practice itself. Most people who come to me want action, something to do. This part teaches the opposite: not doing, but being.

We move

The physical part of the class is called a kriya, a set of exercises that makes the body work so it can truly let go afterwards. Some evenings it is strong, some evenings it is gentle. Either way, I will invite you to find the strength not in anger but in love. The body works best when it is led with softness, not force.

We release

Then comes the part my students talk about most: a deep relaxation with a sound bath, played on Tibetan singing bowls. You lie down under a blanket and do nothing. For many busy people this is the hardest part of the whole class, and the most important one.

We return

We close with the mantra Sat Nam, which means truth is my name. It is not a goodbye. It is a question you carry out of the room with you: what is my truth, and am I living it?

Who these classes are for

I come from the corporate world. I know what it is to be busy all day and unable to say what you have really done, to look responsible and serious and successful while a quiet voice in the background says something is off.

These classes are for people living that life. You do not need to be flexible, spiritual, or experienced. You do not need to believe in anything. You need seventy five minutes on a weekday evening and a little curiosity.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience to join a yoga class in Nyon?

No. My classes welcome complete beginners alongside students who have practised for years. Every exercise can be adapted, and I pay attention to where each person is on any given evening.

Is Kundalini yoga difficult?

Some exercises are physically demanding, most are accessible to anyone. The real challenge is usually not physical. For busy minds, lying still during the relaxation is often harder than any posture.

What is the difference between Kundalini yoga and other yoga?

Kundalini yoga works with breath, movement, sound, and meditation together in one class. If you have only known yoga as physical postures, expect something that works as much on your mind as on your body.

How do I get to the studio?

Evolution Club is at Rue de l'Industrie 1 in Nyon's old town, a short walk from Nyon station. By car, park at Parking Perdtemps and walk about five minutes.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, places are limited to twelve people per class, so booking ahead is the safest way to secure your spot.

The door is easier to open than you think

I spent fifteen years finding my way back to myself. You do not need fifteen years. You need one evening, one class, one moment of curiosity stronger than the voice that says you are too busy for this.

The courtyard is quiet. The room is warm. The rest, you have to feel for yourself.

Is that quiet feeling that something is off still there as you read this?

The discovery class exists exactly for that. One evening class at Evolution Club in Nyon, for first-timers, to experience what a Kundalini yoga class actually feels like in your own body.
